INVEST ARCHITECTURE

RUBY ROOM
Language:

Sponsored by: AFEX

Confirmed architects of AFEX* and young and talented architects & landscape designers (AJAP 2018 *²) will debate on the following themes, treated on our stand, R7.G23, Riviera Pavillon:

  • Produce/Anticipate

In the "work" city, commerce and industry drive urban resources (logistics, water supply/treatment, energy/digital services). Architecture takes into account these resources as well as  future changes, such as ecological and digital transitions.

  • Inhabit/Move

The relationship between housing, urban spaces and mobility challenges architecture.
The transformation of housing to adapt to new lifestyles, to remote working, an aging population, the evolution of the relationship with services incite architects to propose new urban and architectural forms. Issues related to suburban redevelopment are at the centre of the debate.

  • Balance/Include

Architecture can promote the quality of life and deteriorated regions, especially those without metropolitan dynamics. It participates in the necessary balance by investing new spaces with projects that are also opportunities to repossess the region.

  • Preserve/Transform

Whether individual buildings or urban centres, recycling the built environment entails transformation of the past to our present-day needs. The regeneration of industrial wastelands, the reuse of city centres and public spaces, the transformation of office space into housing are future prospects. Architects breathe new life through the project while preserving the character of the areas redeveloped.

* AFEX is non-profit association with more than 200 members: a hundred architecture firms but also engineers, planners, landscape architects, etc. and manufacturers, more than 5000 professionals who combine their experiences on a daily basis to promote the French know-how in the world, as a team.

*² The Albums des jeunes architectes et paysagistes (Ajap), awarded every two years by the French Ministry of Culture, provide a snapshot of what is most promising on the young contemporary architecture and lansdcaping scene in France. There are twenty laureates this year, fifteen teams of architects and five landscape designers, evidencing both the diversity of practices and the wide range of geographical settings in which they work.
