Nicolas J.A. Buchoud is the president of the Grand Paris Alliance for Metropolitan Development (Cercle Grand Paris de l’Investissement Durable), an awarded, Paris based think tank established in 2011 and a center of excellence for the UN Global Compact cities program. He is the founding principal of Renaissance Urbaine strategic advisory. A former counsellor of the President of Paris Ile de France Region with a long-standing experience of local and regional government, Nicolas J.A. Buchoud has an extensive practice of complex metropolitan ecosystems and networks, from Vancouver to Vladivostok.
He is currently co-leading the Affordable Metropolis Initiative, a global dialogue promoting innovative solutions for affordable housing in global cities.
In the last decade, he has edited numerous articles, reports, books and contributions on global urban issues, connecting infrastructure development with digitalization, innovation and inclusion. He regularly works with universities, excellence research centers, companies, civic groups, governments and international organizations. He is currently leading several initiatives promoting the territorialization of the Agenda 2030 and a more resilient and equitable society. He is an alumnus of Sciences Po Paris in public administration and in urbanism and of Paris I La Sorbonne in Chinese history.
