Steve Rotheram is the elected Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, an area covering the local authority areas of Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and the Wirral; and a population of 1.6m people. He has served in the role since May 2017, having been re-elected in May 2021 for a second three-year term.
