Regional Pavilions at MIPIM 2016

  • Belgian pavilion

    • An extended pavillion gathered Belgium's three main regions - Wallonia, Flanders and Brussels Capital Region – with cities like Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp, Liège, Charleroi, Namur and over 200 developers, investors, architects and consulting companies.
    • Doubled in size for MIPIM 2016, the Belgium pavilion arranged under the banner of Surrealestate.
    • A full programme included project presentations, market analyses and networking events.

    German Pavilions

    • On top of the German architects pavilion, German first and second tier cities and regions gathered more than 130 public institutions and private property players at big stands. There were projects in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and the North-Rhine-Westfalia region to discover, and top executives from Auer Weber, Bilfinger, Corpus Sireo, Deka Immobilien, Drees & Sommeer and STRABAG attended, among others.

    United Kingdom

    • Over 300 companies gathered to explore the many opportunities London has to offer, including developers, agencies, architects, brokers, investors and property professionals.
    • 30 conferences, project showcases and networking events over 4 days.
    • Brokers included CBRE Global Investors, JLL, Cushman & Wakefield, Colliers International and Knight Frank; investors Invesco and Pramerica were also present.
    • Returning city teams from London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow were joined this year by Belfast, Newcastle and Sheffield.
    • Architecture remains a key UK export, with Benoy, Chapman Taylor and Design International exhibiting at MIPIM.
  • ITALIAN PAVILION

    • The Italian Pavilion, organised by the ICE – Italian Trade Agency – and ANCE welcomed several Italian regions and institutions on an extended space.
    • The cities of Rome and Milan joined their fellow countrymen at MIPIM this year, doubling the country’s presence.
    • Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the Italian market and connect with private and public sectors local stakeholders during topical panel sessions, projects presentations and networking events.

    France

    • Grand Paris project developments were showcased by local authorities, institutions and the private sector under a 1,000m² sea view tent.
    • A full programme of presentations and events provided the opportunity to discover business projects and meet key players.
    • Stands featured the country’s largest regional groups: Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Toulouse, Nice, Strasbourg, Lille and Grenoble.
    • Following the recent reorganization of the French regions, a growing number of communities are pulling together for the benefit of inward investors. Toulouse and Montpellier, for example, exhibited alongside each another in the Riviera 7 Hall.

    TURKEY

    • The potential and upcoming mega projects of cities in Turkey such as Balıkesir, Bursa, Hatay, Kocaeli and Ordu were presented at the Turkey Pavilion.
    • Organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, the Istanbul Real Estate Promotion Pavilion boasted a surface of 685 m² to welcome influential players from the international private and public property sectors.
    • The 96 m² “Living Istanbul Model” tent showcased the exciting sights and delightful sounds that Istanbul has to offer.
    • Included a full programme of panel and conference sessions with key players, project presentations, market analyses, networking opportunities and events.
  • North America

    • More than a dozen Canadian cities and regions attended MIPIM, including Montréal, Ontario, Toronto and Ottawa.
    • Under the “Conway Pavilion”:
      • Albuquerque Economic Development
      • Greater Houston Partnership
      • Oklahoma Department of Commerce
      • Washington State Department of Commerce
      • West Virginia Department of Commerce
      • Birmingham, Jefferson County Economic Development
    • The National Association of Realtors reaffirmed its presence for the 2nd year under the “NAR Pavilion”. The Americas' largest trade association brought members from different regions to promote their cities or projects.

    St. Petersburg pavilion

    • St. Petersburg used a special venue to present its investment potential at MIPIM through its pavilion located at Croisette embankment.
    • Central place of St. Petersburg exposition was occupied by the interactive St. Petersburg master plan showing new opportunities for development and investment in the historical city.
    • The MIPIM business audience could get acquainted with more than 30 urban development projects
    • A diverse St. Petersburg programme including conferences, discussions, business meetings and networking events was organized in the City pavilion, providing perfect opportunities for the international real estate business community to establish contacts with decision-makers and learn about new opportunities offered by St. Petersburg.

    Asia

    • More Asian participants than ever headed to MIPIM
    • Two country pavilions, Philippines and Indonesia, were led by their Ministry of Tourism, while WANDA from China participated for the first time with a stand in the Riviera 7 Hall.
    • A variety of networking events supported by Asian participants, included the Japan conference session, the Asia morning and the Asia Lunch.
